Research at the Pharmacology Clinic

We research how medicines affect people with EDS, ME/CFS, POTS, MCAS, and neurodiversity. Many patients struggle with unusual medication reactions, but there is little research to explain why. Our goal is to find patterns in medicine tolerance, side effects, and effectiveness, especially for people of different ethnic backgrounds.

We use real-world patient data to identify safer, more effective treatments. We work closely with the School of Pharmacy at the University of Otago, we analyse medication responses and publish our findings to improve care.

This research can help doctors, pharmacists, and patients make better treatment choices. It also lays the groundwork for official EDS treatment guidelines in New Zealand. Our work aims to reduce trial and error with medicines and ensure patients receive care that truly works for them.

We believe no one should suffer alone—better answers lead to better lives.
